Star Warrior

I had this outfit concept for Tachi that I found buried in a notebook and I decided to bring it to life in color--everything else but the leg bands, the gun, the foot bands and the gloves will pretty much be her typical wardrobe.  I like the idea of her having a slightly more Japanese-style (Japanese-inspired?) outfit.

The city background is a mix of colored pencils and markers, the outer border was created with markers, colored pencils and the majority of my sister's glittery nail polish.  It looks cooler in person (and the stars are more visible).


Along with being inspired to just draw from the con, I was also more inspired to me more open with my art outside of online or close friend circles, so this and "Ivana" were some images that I showed to my family without reluctance.
They don't hate my art or anything, they acknowledge that I have talent and they definitely think I can go somewhere with it, but my family has little interest or understanding of what a "gargoyle" is (in the context of Greg Weisman's show) nor do they really grasp the concept of fanart/fan-characters, so my mom's comment after seeing this was: "She looks like Kim Kardashian as a monster, with the big boobs and the big hips."
Basically, they'd rather see me working in an art museum than as a comic artist--that's the closest I can get to good analogy.
As annoying as it can be to convince my family that anthro art/fanart does have a crowd and that I don't feel I'm wasting my time drawing dogs in dresses or fan characters to shows I didn't create, I am a little more willing and patient to explain what they are and why I draw them.

Bottom line, Imma keep drawing fanart & anthro doggies!!
